As I (Richelle Latona) step into my new role as Senior Director of Development, I’m thrilled to announce that Jen Schuler will be serving as our new Alumni Director. I truly couldn’t imagine anyone better to step into this position—and I’m excited to let Jen introduce herself in her own words:
“I first came to Hume in 1999 as a summer staffer after graduating from UC Berkeley (Go Bears!) and was deeply impacted by the Lord through this ministry. My husband, Joel, and I planned to stay ‘just a year or two’ when we joined full-time staff in 2002—but here we are, 23 years later, still so grateful the Lord had plans beyond what we could imagine! Together, we’ve had the joy of raising our three kids—Ellie (GCU sophomore), Tommy (11th grade), and Abi (8th grade)—in the sweet community at the Lake.
I have a deep love for the ministry and people of Hume, both past and present. I’m passionate about gathering people, cultivating community, and really knowing the hearts and stories of those around me. Some of my absolute favorites are deep conversations at my kitchen counter while baking, studying God’s Word together, sharing stories around the campfire, and hearing how the Lord is at work in people’s lives.
The next time you’re at Hume Lake—especially on a summer Wednesday—I’d love to meet you and hear your story. And if you happen to be here then, come by for homemade s’mores with the Hume community!”
Whether you’re an alum from decades past or just finished your first summer on staff, I know Jen’s heart for people and deep love for Hume will be a blessing to you.
If you’d like to welcome Jen or have any Alumni questions, feel free to reach out to her directly at jkschuler@hume.org.
Welcome, Jen—you truly are the perfect fit for this role!
