Why We Work at Hume

More Than a Job—A Calling with Eternal Impact

There are many places someone can choose to work, but Hume Christian Camps is not just a workplace—it is a calling. Behind every campfire, worship set, meal served, and cabin cleaned is a staff member who believes deeply in the eternal significance of what God is doing here.

Many of us came to Hume because camp ministry changed our lives. We experienced the Gospel in a way that was personal, transformative, and unforgettable. But we stayed because we can see—year after year—how this ministry impacts people’s eternities.

As one staff member shares:
“I came to Hume because of how camp ministry affected my life; I stayed at Hume because I can see how our ministry impacts people’s eternities. I work at Hume because it is a place where the Gospel takes center-stage in every season of ministry.”

At Hume, the Gospel is the foundation of everything we do—from summer camp to retreats, conferences, and guest groups. In every season, the message of Jesus is proclaimed clearly and lived out authentically.

Each week, our staff is reminded why this work matters. Through the stories of campers encountering Christ, guests finding rest, and families being renewed, we are continually refreshed in our own faith.
“Each week I am refreshed and reminded of the joy of my salvation through the stories I hear from campers and guests; each week I am encouraged and exhorted to become more like Jesus by my managers and coworkers.”

Hume is special because it is a place where the Gospel becomes real—where faith moves from head knowledge to heart transformation. Working here means partnering with others in Kingdom work, knowing that even the unseen, behind-the-scenes efforts carry eternal weight.
“To know that your efforts are for eternal impact is humbling.”

Beyond the ministry itself, Hume is a community. It is a place marked by joy, laughter, hard work, and deep relationships. It is fun, meaningful, and Christ-centered.
“Working at Hume is community, fun, and points others to Jesus.”

This is why we work at Hume. Because lives are changed here. Because the Gospel is proclaimed here. And because God continues to use ordinary people, faithfully serving together, to accomplish extraordinary, eternal work.
