Last month, we wrapped up all of our Winter Camp season across each Hume Christian Camps campus. We are praising God for all He has done—lives changed, hearts renewed, and the gospel proclaimed.
This winter, our theme, Agapolis, explored the true meaning of love through an Ancient Greek-inspired animated story. Rooted in 1 John 4:7-12, we examined how God—who is the very definition of love—demonstrated His perfect, sacrificial, and unconditional love through Jesus’ death and resurrection. In the story, the God of love, Agape, creates a place designed for His love to flourish, but over time, its citizens distort and forget His love. Through this theme, students were challenged to recognize how the world misrepresents love and to embrace the transformative, gospel-centered love that only comes from God.
Winter Camp was a powerful reminder of this truth in action. As we geared up to go 100 mph for 48 hours straight, and students stepped away from the busyness of school, life, and everything else they carry, the Lord provided respite. Friendships grew deeper, junior high and high school students learned about true love and extended it to one another, counselors poured life into students, and exhausted youth pastors rejoiced as they saw the souls of their students redeemed and renewed.
One powerful moment came when a camper approached the speaker of the weekend, Jeff Sanford, in tears—overwhelmed by both the weight of his sin and the incredible love of God. He said, “God’s love is crazy—I can’t believe it,” and he thanked Jeff for helping him understand the reality of sin and grace. This is the impact of God’s love at camp. The Lord is moving!
If you want to help more students experience the life-changing impact of camp, consider giving to the Hume Campership Fund. Your donation provides scholarships for kids who might not otherwise have the opportunity to hear the gospel at Hume—because a week at camp can change everything!
