As I reflect on the incredible work God has done through Hume Christian Camps this past year, I am overwhelmed with gratitude and awe. The 2024 campership statistics just came across my desk, and I couldn’t wait to share them with you. These numbers represent more than data; they are a testament to the transformative power of the Gospel and the faithfulness of our ministry partners.
We are living in a time where there is a crisis amongst youth in California and across America. Yet, when I see numbers like these, there is tremendous hope. Hope that the kids who desperately need to hear the Gospel message of Christ are encountering it here at Hume, thanks to generous donors like you.
This year, 1,384 households below the poverty line applied for and received camperships. 96 applicants where a parent was widowed were awarded camperships, and 1,176 kids from single-parent homes were able to attend camp. In total, 4,751 applications were awarded camperships, representing our highest total ever. Most remarkably, the total amount of camperships given in 2024 reached an all-time high of $1,139,604.
Each of these numbers represents a life touched by the love of Christ. The stories of transformation that come from these campers are a testament to God’s faithfulness and your generosity. I love it when I hear stories from our camp directors or youth pastors of what God did in the lives of students. Decisions that were made for eternity whether at a Victory Circle, during chapel at one of our camps, or on a bus ride home.
Thank you for being a vital part of this ministry. Whether through prayer, financial gifts, or spreading the word about Hume, your partnership makes this possible. As we celebrate what God has done, let us also look forward with anticipation, trusting that He will continue to do more than we can ask or imagine.
Please join me in praying for each camper as they carry the light of Christ into their homes, schools, and communities. As it is currently Winter Camp season at each of our camps, please pray for campers attending camp and for those whose lives have been touched by Hume in the past.
