Update: Joshua Wilderness Institute

By: Cassidy Voss

Hello! My name is Cassidy Voss (Joshua Wilderness Institute class of ’22/’23), and I am honored to be the administrative and recruiting assistant at JWI. For over 20 years, the Joshua Wilderness Institute has existed to disciple 18-24 year-olds to love God and his Word in order to set a foundation for a life worthy of the gospel. While this is our mission statement, it is also a goal that profoundly impacted me as a former student of the program. I was able to learn more about the heart of Christ and feel incredibly grateful to continue to be a part of this ministry. I am approaching the end of my first year on staff and I have been wonderful to see this class of young adults hungry for something that the world does not offer as they strive after the heart of Christ, committing to something countercultural and difficult.

Students of the class of ’23/’24 are preparing their hearts to complete the program after 9-months of biblical training, four Biola classes, challenging trips, an intentional fast, and living with a community unlike any other. This has been both a difficult and wonderful year! While we are sad to see this year ending and we are excited for what each of student will be stepping into. Please pray for students as they make plans for the future and go confidently where God is leading them.

As we draw nearer to another new class of Joshua students in the fall, we are excited about the challenges and joys that they will face. Please join us in prayer for the enrolled students for next year! We are encouraged about the increased interest we’ve had in the program in the years since the pandemic and pray that God may continue to draw students to JWI.

If you know someone who is interested in Joshua or want to learn more about our program, please check out www.hume.org/joshua, check out our podcast ‘Wilderness Survival’, follow our Youtube channel or social medias (@joshuawilderness), or shoot us an email at joshuainfo@hume.org!

Your prayers and support are so appreciated and as someone who is blessed to see the fruits of this discipleship, I can see that students are drawing near to Christ and leaning into the lives that God has called them to! Your investment in this program greatly impacts the lives of these young adults! Thank you!
