This summer was just as crazy as any other. We have three young kids, and soccer and school had already begun when some of our best friends were retreating to Hume for the weekend- Labor Day weekend to attend Country Fair.
While my husband and I each have our own special memories at Hume, our time with our kids was a new special I wasn’t prepared for. In a season where I do my best to control what I can, the retreat to Hume allowed my heart to release, resetting to the joy of camp. The wiggly bunks and common bathroom didn’t phase me, while this certainly would have been a deterrent anywhere else, the peace of camp covered all of it.
There’s never been a doubt in my mind about the special work God does in the hearts of campers, but it was special to connect my family to the Hope we have as Christians through the outpouring of love and prayer over every inch of camp.
The festivities of Country Fair provided so much community fun and excitement, with pancake breakfast and fire truck rides. Paddling in the lake and fishing with new friends, singing our hearts out at the Rend Collective Concert, then walking back to our bunks to pass out.
It was beautiful- a perfect transition into Fall. God is good, He is faithful, He endures. I’m thankful for the Legacy of Hume and the lives that are continuing to be transformed by visiting.Would you like to get your family up for Country Fair Weekend this 2024?
