People often ask about the term we here at Hume called “Legacy Planning.” Legacy planning is essentially estate planning. Estate planning deals with the transfer of property and money at death, as well as a variety of other personal matters. Regardless of what stage of life you are in, how much property and finances you have, it is something to consider making sure spouses, children, and family are cared for.
Many friends of Hume have chosen to include a planned gift to this ministry from their life estate. We believe that the future of our ministry will increasingly depend on such gifts, and we desire to provide the needed counsel to help people work through their estate plans. David Harrison, who was our Director of Gift and Estate Planning, offered that service for ten-plus years here at Hume but moved into the retirement season along with his wife, Judy, over a year ago.
The good news is that Hume Ministries continues to offer complimentary estate planning services through a long-time trusted ministry partner, PhilanthroCorp. I have the privilege to oversee this area of our ministry.
We can help you start and also connect you with the estate specialists at PhilanthroCorp, who have the same wise counsel that David Harrison offered.
PhilanthroCorp has helped thousands of families create Wills and Trusts that meet their family goals, save taxes, and provide peace of mind. Their experts will help you understand your options for reaching your goals of providing for the family and ministries you care about.
They will speak with you as often as you need to ensure that the finished plan is what you desire. Once the estate plan is determined, they can connect you with a network of trusted Christian attorneys to draw up the legal papers, or you can choose your own personal attorney.
Please know that you are not under any obligation to include Hume Ministries in your estate. To begin the process, simply email us at development@hume.org and we will connect you to PhilanthroCorp. You can also call PhilanthroCorp directly and identify yourself as a friend of Hume (800-876-7958).
