Summer Staff at the Lake

Summer is here and we are so excited! On behalf of the four summer RDs at Hume Lake, welcome to this busy yet enriching season. We have been praying for the thousands of campers who have come to camp to hear the Gospel and are expectant to see how God moves. We recognize this work cannot be done without every staff member that God has placed here this summer.

The summer staff on this mountain are an answer to prayer, and we want to give you a glance into this summer’s richness. One notable aspect is the prevailing unity that we have observed among our staff.  Whether it be summer staff down at Clingan’s before church on a Sunday morning having Bible studies or groups of varying departments playing Spikeball on a lawn together, there is a sense of community here at the Lake this summer – for this, we are thankful. It’s heartwarming to witness staff members from diverse backgrounds and seasons of life coming together for the common purpose of serving the Lord. The sheer number of dedicated staff and their desire to serve the Lord in whatever capacity He has for them is truly a blessing. Despite coming from challenging seasons, we are privileged to hear testimonies that bear witness to the Lord’s faithfulness and love. These stories and moments fortify the faith of the summer staff and our own. The shared experiences of God’s faithfulness inspire and uplift us all, reinforcing our trust in His goodness and unwavering love.

Of course, summer is not all bike jumps, Pond Comps and D&G. Amidst the joy and fun of the summer season; staff members face long hours, relational conflicts, and personal struggles. This can lead to discouragement, which is why having YOU come alongside us in prayer is such a blessing. We are blessed with the opportunity to learn about the hearts of those on the summer staff. Staff members are grappling with difficult feelings such as uncertainty, comparison, and loneliness, reflecting the brokenness and hurt present in the world around us. As we enter week five, please pray for the staff to find strength in the Lord, be freed from comparisons, and foster a spirit of unity and community. May Ephesians 4:1-3 guide our prayers, encouraging the staff to walk in a manner worthy of their calling, with humility, gentleness, patience, and love, eagerly maintaining the unity of Spirit and the bond of peace.

We rejoice in knowing that God is actively at work in the lives of the summer staff at Hume Lake. It is a privilege to join the Lord in supporting, praying for, and uplifting these staff members as they embrace the purpose that God has for them this summer. May God bless you all abundantly in this important ministry.

With gratitude,
