As we enter into April, the Outdoor Education camps at Hume prepare to bring the Gospel to over one thousand students, teachers, and administrators. Although the deep snowpack, floods, and road closures have pushed our start date back a few weeks, we are excited to begin camp and thankful for all of the hard work put in by our program and registration teams, diligently working to reschedule schools.
For those who may not know, Outdoor Education is a science camp with a Biblical foundation aimed towards 5th-8th grade students from Christian schools. Each Spring and Fall season, our camp provides six courses that engage students in a fun and Biblical-based curriculum surrounded by the beauty of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
This season, students will take part in the study of Aeronautics, Physics in Nature, Archery, Leather Craft, Group Initiatives, and Natural Habitats. Each day, we will study God’s word, focusing on this question: “What is truth?” Students will learn that truth is found in God’s unwavering and perfect word as our speakers walk them through the book of John.
Please pray that lives will be forever changed and the Gospel is preached week to week from April 10 to May 5. Pray that God will make clear the words that are spoken to the ears and minds of these youths. Pray for safety in travel for the dozens of schools who will be in attendance, and pray for the staff at Hume as we continue to prepare and ultimately run camp.
